Joel McNeely

Joel McNeely est compositeur de musique américain connu pour avoir signé de nombreuses bandes sonores de films et séries.

Né le 28 Mars 1959 (à Madison, Wisconsin, USA), dans une famille de musiciens l'intérêt de McNeely dans la musique a commencé à un âge précoce. Une rencontre avec le légendaire compositeur Elmer Bernstein à l'âge de 12 ans l'a incité à se lancer dans une carrière en écrivant de la musique de film. À 14 ans, il a été accepté à l'Académie Interlochen Arts dans le Michigan et a commencé des études de musique concentrées dans la composition et la performance de la flûte. Après avoir été diplômé de Interlochen, McNeely s'est dirigé à l'Université de Miami, où il a étudié la composition et la performance jazz. Alors qu'il encore étudiant, il fait le tour du monde, en jouant avec des artistes tels que Tony Bennett, Peggy Lee, Al Green, Melissa Manchester, Chuck Mangione, Bobby Caldwell et Jaco Pastorius.

McNeely possède un baccalauréat en musique de l'Université de Miami à Coral Gables, en Floride et a obtenu une maîtrise en composition à l'Eastman School of Music à Rochester, New York.

En tant que compositeur pour le cinéma et la télévision, McNeely a travaillé avec des cinéastes respectés comme James Cameron, John Lasseter, Seth MacFarlane et George Lucas, entre autres.

McNeely a également produit et arrangé des chansons pour des artistes tels que Norah Jones, Sara Bareilles, Burt Bacharach, Chris Mann, Carly Simon, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Linda Ronstadt, Rosemary Clooney et Jonatha Brooke.
